UFC 149 is set to take place this Saturday in Calgary, Canada and although the card isn’t as stacked as UFC 148 was with Silva defeating Sonnen, but the main event should be in interesting fight.
Urijah Faber and Renan Barao will be fighting for the Interim Bantamweight UFC Championship. Current UFC Bantamweight Champion, Dominick Cruz tore his ACL in May, which lead to this fight being created. Faber was supposed to have a rematch with Cruz after the two were coaches on the Ultimate Fighter, but now he will have to settle for a shot at the Interim Bantamweight Championship.
Urijah Faber has had three fights in the UFC, losing only in his title fight to Dominick Cruz, which ended as a unanimous decision, but was the fight of the night. After that loss Faber followed it up with a submission win over Brian Bowles in a title eliminator fight.
Renan Barao on the other hand also has three fights in the UFC having won every single one of them. Barao is 28-1-1 in his MMA career, but his only loss came in his very first MMA fight way back in April of 2005. Since then he has won 28 straight fights, if you don’t include the no contest that was ended as a draw from an illegal soccer kick in a different promotional company.

Barao’s 28 straight victories have him as the favorite heading into this fight with Faber.
