UFC Fight Night 44: Stephens vs Swanson – Betting Odds and Picks

By MMA Fights

UFC Fight Night 44The second of the two Fight Nights scheduled for this coming Saturday is the more exciting one in my opinion.  Cub Swanson vs Jeremy Stephens should be a good fight and I’m also interested to see if Kelvin Gastelum can continue to succeed in the UFC when he fights Nicholas Musoke.

At UFC 174 I had a small down night.  I was correct on St. Preux and Rory MacDonald winning their fights, but the Schaub decision hurt me and I was completely off on Cavalcante.  Then in the main event Johnson did everything but finish Bagautinov and I had it inside distance.

2014 Record: 29-14 for +18.34 units.

Cub Swanson vs Jeremy Stephens

Swanson is currently ranked fourth on the Featherweight rankings at UFC.com, but he has yet to beat any of the guys ahead of him, while he has lost to both #3 Ricardo Lamas and #1 contender Chad Mendes.  That said he has some huge wins of late and is currently on a 5 fight winning streak.  He’s beat Ross Pearson by TKO, Charles Oliviera by KO, Dustin Poirier by decision and Dennis Siver by TKO.  That is basically the who’s who of the featherweight division with all of these fighters recognizable names.  Swanson has amazing knockout power and will surely look for the knockout against Stephens as well.

Jeremy Stephens has reestablished himself after moving to Featherweight with 3 wins in a row.  His last was a big win over Darren Elkins who is ranked #12 in the division.  Stephens still has never fought someone of Swanson’s caliber and I think he will be out of his depth in this one.  I expect a Swanson knockout.

Take Cub Swanson inside distance +125 @ 5Dimes.eu.

Kelvin Gastelum vs Nicholas Musoke

Gastelum is now 3-0 in his UFC career after he beat Rick Story in his last fight.  Gastelum has looked great in each of the fights I have seen and this kid just seems like he knows how to win.  He’s a beast at 170 pounds and I expect another win on his resume.

Musoke has 2 wins so far in the Octagon, but Gastelum will be his first ranked fighter.  I think he will be out of his league in this one and if it’s not a finish it will be a domination.

Take Kelvin Gastelum -370 @ 5Dimes.eu.
