UFC Fight Night: Browne vs Werdum – Odds and Picks

By MMA Fights

UFC Werdum vs BrowneThis is a strange week where we get two UFC events within a few days of one another.  I should have put a post up for the Kennedy vs Bisping fight because I did have Kennedy pulling off the upset, but I guess I was too lazy to put a post up for a single fight because I wasn’t making plays on any of the other fights.  Last weekend though saw Roy Nelson knockout Nogueira and Clay Guida win an unanimous decision over Kawajiri.  I had both of those outcomes down, which improves my record once again:

2014 Record: 18-6 for +12.60 units.

Travis Browne vs Fabricio Werdum

The winner of this fight gets Cain Velasquez in Mexico for the UFC Heavyweight title, so there is a ton on the line in this tilt.  I for one am glad that Browne is in a title eliminator fight because he has just been clinical knocking out the who’s who in the UFC heavyweight division.  His last 3 fights have been knockout wins over Gabriel Gonzaga, Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett.  I don’t think Browne has been the favourite in any of these fights, but he’s the favourite in this one after another devastating knockout over Barnett.  Werdum will be no walkover though as he is also on a 3 fight win streak with W’s over Roy Nelson, Mike Russow and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, but this lineup is much less impressive than Browne’s and he did lose to Alistair Overeem in June of 2011 (4 fights ago).

I see Browne once again showcasing his knockout ability in this one.  Brown just knocks people out, it’s what he does.

Take Travis Browne by knockout -120 @ 5Dimes.

Miesha Tate vs Liz Carmouche

Tate is back in the octagon after her loss to Rousey in the title fight.  Tate has a lot on the line in this one because a loss to Carmouche would really drop her down the rankings.  Tate is already on a two fight losing streak after losing to Cat Zingano and then falling into the titel shot against Rousey.  She needs a strong performance here against Carmouche who is coming off a loss to Alexis Davis.  I think she will get it though.  She looked pretty good against Rousey, but just some strategic errors cost her the fight.

Take Miesha Tate -200 @ 5Dimes

Rafael dos Anjos vs Khabib Nurmagomedov

This Ukranian can Sambo.  Nurmagomedov is 21-0 in MMA and 5-0 in the UFC.  A win over dos Anjos will put him into title fight consideration.  He just looks ridiculous when he fights and even set the record for most take downs in a UFC fight when he took Abel Trujillo down 21 times at UFC 160.  I expect Nurmagomedov to be the aggressor in this fight and simply be too much for dos Anjos to handle.

Take Nurmagomedov -260 @ 5Dimes
