UFC Fight Night 46: McGregor vs Brandao – Betting Odds and Picks

By MMA Fights

UFC McGregor vs BrandaoIt will have been a couple weeks since UFC 175, but this coming weekend has a couple of solid cards.  The first is Wednesday with Cerrone vs Miller and the second is Saturday in Dublin, Ireland and it has some very interesting fights.  I am particularly interested in seeing Conor McGregor take center stage in the main event fight against Diego Brandao, but I’m also looking forward to Gunnar Nelson getting back in the cage to hopefully move up the rankings some more, as well as Ian McCall to have his first fight in almost a year.

UFC 175 was a very interesting card and I won 2 out of my 3 bets.  I actually made a bet on Mitrione by knockout as well, but that fight didn’t even make it to the ring with Struve passing out back stage.  My one miss was my Rousey by submission bet.  I should have simply taken the Rousey in round 1 bet because she now has the skills to finish fights in several ways.  My Faber inside distance and Weidman to win bets did pay out though, so overall a close to breakeven day.

2014 Record: 32-16 for +17.74 units.

Conor McGregor vs Diego Brandao

McGregor has only 2 fights in the UFC, but they were both very solid victories and the fact that he continues to run his mouth ensures that if he keeps winning he will soon get higher ranked opponents.  He was supposed to fight Cole Miller at this event, but Brandao is a similar opponent.  Brandao is an Ultimate Fighter winner with 4 wins in the UFC, but his most recent outing was a very poor showing against Dustin Poirier where he was knocked out.  He missed weight for that fight and didn’t look good overall.  I think Brandao has a chance in this fight, but McGregor in his home country will be very difficult to beat.  I think he is the better fighter and if he continues to improve he could be very difficult in this division.

Zak Cummings vs Gunnar Nelson

Gunnar Nelson is a guy I seeing eventually challenging for the Welterweight belt.  Zak Cummings is not in the same league.  Nelson will be able to outwork Cummings in all areas of the fight.  I don’t actually see this one going the distance, but both of these guys are submission experts so it could actually be interesting to see their work on the floor.  Nelson is probably the better striker though so he may choose to keep the fight standing in this one.

Take Gunnar Nelson -555 @ 5Dimes.

Brad Picket vs Ian McCall

Uncle Creepy is back after a year off.  He gets right back into the thick of things fighting Brad Picket who is ranked #10 on the UFC Flyweight rankings.  McCall is still ranked as the #3 contender so a win here could put him back in the title shot conversation, even after his draw and losses to Demetrious Johnson a few fights back.  Brad Picket has faltered when coming up against the top fighters in the bantamweight division.  Now he’s in the flyweight division and has one win under his belt.  Even though Picket will be a challenge and Uncle Creepy has been out of action for some time I still have to give the nod to McCall in this fight.

Take Ian McCall -165 @ 5Dimes.
